Students from ERM Hope TVET School, together with staff from ERM Rwanda and Melody of New Hope (MNH), visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi as part of an educational trip aimed at deepening their understanding of Rwanda’s history.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to learn more about the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, honor the memory of the more than one million lives lost, and reflect on Rwanda’s journey of unity, reconciliation, and peace building.
During the tour, students engaged with exhibits and testimonies that highlight the causes, consequences, and aftermath of the genocide. They also took time to pay tribute at the memorial site, where thousands of victims are laid to rest.
Speaking on behalf of the school, staff members emphasized that such visits are essential for young people to appreciate Rwanda’s past and contribute to a peaceful and united future.
“This experience helps our students understand the importance of standing against division and working together for a stronger Rwanda,” one of the facilitators said.
The partnership between ERM Rwanda, ERM Hope TVET School, and Melody of New Hope continues to prioritize not only vocational training but also values of peace, responsibility, and community transformation among young people.
